What Are the Benefits of Dermaplaning?
Peach fuzz sounds cute, but can be an annoyance, particularly on your face. We've all got it and it's nothing to be ashamed of. It's no different from the hair on our head or eyebrows, we all have different amounts of it or thickness. Women are simply not hairless! Many women have used lasers, tweezing, waxing and even shaving, but none of these have given them the desired results. But don't lose hope, there is a skin care procedure that can help you achieve smooth silky skin.
What Is Dermaplaning?
Although Dermaplaning has been around for decades, it has become more commonplace over the past few years. Dermaplaning is a procedure that uses a painless, sharp blade to gently scrape away facial hair and rids the skin of any build-up of dead skin cells, all which can contribute to making your skin look dull or uneven.Your esthetician will use the scalpel to very gently scrape the surface of your face in light, feathering strokes. Despite sounding terrifying, the entire procedure is virtually painless. Most people do not experience any unpleasantness during or after the treatment.
What are the Benefits?
Dermaplane treatments are beneficial for people suffering from acne scars, dull or dry skin, fine lines, wrinkles and even sun damage. Aside from the removal of hair, dermaplaning actually provides a number of benefits. Dermaplaning acts as an exfoliant and removes dead skin in addition to hair. Dead skin along with oil and dirt clog pores resulting in breakouts. Because there is no hair to trap oil and dirt, your skin will be cleaner after a dermaplaning facial, preventing future breakouts.
Dermaplaning can also have anti-aging effects. By removing the dead skin, it reduces the appearance of fine lines, hyperpigmentation and acne scars. You'll immediately notice improvements in your skin's texture and skin tone, with a dewy glow that is silky smooth to the touch. As a result, your makeup and other skin care products will glide on evenly, leaving a flawless look.
What to Expect During a Dermaplane Session.
Your esthetician will help you relax on a spa table and ensure you’re comfortable. She will then thoroughly clean all areas of your face, to ensure makeup, dirt or excess oils have been removed. She will perform an evaluation of your skin condition before beginning your service.
Your esthetician will gently use a sharp sterile tool at a 45-degree angle on your cheeks, nose, chin and forehead, removing the dead skin cells and peach fuzz. You can actually see the skin flakes and hairs gather against the tool as your esthetician works.
Your esthetician may steam your skin before performing manual extractions of blackheads or other clogged pores. Usually your session ends with the application of a cooling face mask to soothe your skin. Dermaplane treatments are actually quite straightforward and painless, but require the precision of a trained professional to achieve the best results. It's not recommend to attempt to perform dermaplaning on your own face, you run the risk of razor burn, cuts, or even infection if not performed properly.
Dermaplane treatments are non-invasive and have virtually no side effects. After your session you may notice a bit of redness which will subside within a day or two after the procedure. There are no activity restrictions after your session. To help protect your skin, apply sunscreen daily.
